How hiring works in Sarawak
01
Local advertisement — the employer first advertises the vacancy locally, as Sarawak rules require.
02
Approval in Principle (AP) — the employer applies to the Sarawak Labour Department (Jabatan Tenaga Kerja Sarawak) through its online system.
03
Labour licence and work permit — after the AP, the employer obtains the labour licence, and the work permit (PLKS) is processed with Immigration Sarawak.
04
Pakistan side — we source and screen candidates, share Ref-only profiles for your shortlist, arrange interviews and trade tests, and complete medical, Protector clearance and departure formalities.
Under Sarawak’s GENESIS guidelines, Pakistan is an approved source country for skilled workers in plantation, manufacturing, construction (including dams, hydro, bridges and high-tension cable works), logging, mining and quarrying, restaurants (cooks) and vehicle workshops. For helpers from Pakistan, approval is decided case by case by the Sarawak Government — we check this with you before any recruitment starts. Rules as of November 2026; the decision of the Sarawak authorities is final.

Frequently asked questions
Is Pakistan an approved source country for Sarawak?
Yes, for skilled workers in the sectors listed under Sarawak's GENESIS guidelines — plantation, manufacturing, construction, logging, mining and quarrying, restaurant cooks and vehicle workshops. For helpers, the Sarawak Government decides case by case.
What is the AP?
The Approval in Principle from the Sarawak Labour Department — the employer's approval to hire foreign workers. It comes before the labour licence and the work permit (PLKS).
